Labour Leader Unveils Six Point Plan For First 100 Days

Keir Starmer sets out Labour's priorities for government

Labour leader unveils six-point plan for first 100 days

Pledges to tackle cost of living crisis, climate change and inequality

Keir Starmer has outlined the first steps he would take if his party wins the next election in a speech in Essex.

The Labour leader unveiled a pledge card with six priorities for his first 100 days in office:

  • Cut energy bills by £200 for every household
  • Insulate 19 million homes to reduce energy costs
  • Create a publicly owned energy company to drive down bills
  • Increase the minimum wage to £10 per hour
  • Scrap Universal Credit and replace it with a fairer system
  • Invest in the NHS and social care to tackle the backlog of care

Starmer said: "These are the first steps we will take to build a fairer, more prosperous society for all."

The Labour leader's speech comes as the party is enjoying a significant lead in the polls over the Conservatives.

If Labour wins the next election, Starmer will become the first Labour prime minister since Gordon Brown in 2010.
